Life Is Development
Developer Dontnod have released a development diary regarding their upcoming, episodic mystery game (with time travel) Life is Strange. The nearly 10 minute long video provides a behind-the-scenes look at the development of Life is Strange. The developers talk about the story briefly and spend most of the time talking about what motivated and influenced them to create the upcoming coming-of-age title.
Dontnod reveal they are influenced by indie films (unsurprisingly) and describe the story as focusing more on the analogue and nostalgia than the digital and the future. Interestingly, the developer also reveals that when they were shopping the game around to publishers, a few asked to change the protagonist's gender. Square Enix will be publishing the game and Dontnod revealed that they were the only company they went to that didn't even question why the game had a female protagonist. The video offers up a lot of fascinating information throughout and is well worth a watch. Check it out above.
Life is Strange will be available on PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. The First episode will see release on January 30th. You can find out more about the game here.

The bit about asking why female protagonist...sounds like BS to me honestly. I can't shake the feeling it's a, ahh, slanted interpretation of the truth to capitalise on the current political climate regarding games.
Then again, considering some people insist that every female in video games is some derogatory stereotype...
