While there were some hints that Valve might be working on Left for Dead 3, a third L4D game is not what we are getting. As we all know, Valve cannot count to 3, so they made a spin off. Arcade cabinets are not very popular gaming medium in the west these days, but remain quite strong in Japan. Valve is collaborating with Japanese arcade manufacturer Taito to create an arcade version called Left 4 Dead: Survivors. The weird live action trailer for the game debuted this February calling the game by a codename Project Z.We do not know any other details about the game yet. 

Interestingly, L4D is not the first time Valve has collaborated with Taito. Their previous work together was the arcade Half Life 2 Survivor which somehow resembled the original game, but had large differences due to the new medium. It was backported to PC by some fans if you want to try it. HL2 Survivor was well received in Japan, so Valve’s willingness to adapt L4D as well makes sense. For some reason, I expect this L4D to be weird.
