Konami Denies Kojima award for Metal Gear Solid V at Game Awards

At The Game Awards last night Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain won Best Action/Adventure Game, Best Musical Score, and Kiefer Sutherland won Best Voice Acting for Snake, but Kojima didn't get to hold any of the awards, and was unexpectedly absent on Konami's orders apparently.

Host Geoff Keighley had this to say about the situation:

"Mr. Kojima had every intention of being with us tonight, but unfortunately he was informed by a lawyer representing Konami just recently that he would not be allowed to travel to tonight's award ceremony to accept any awards. He’s still under an employment contract and it’s disappointing."

This isn't the first time that Konami has accepted an award in Kojima's place. Just last week a Konami PR representative accepted his award in his place at the Play station Awards as well, but Konami continuous to insist that Kojima is just on a "vacation."

It sure has been a long "vacation" for Kojima. Unfortunately, it seems that as long as Konami's lawyers are keeping Kojima wrapped up, Kojima will keep us waiting.
