Internal Valve Folders Leaked

The sneaky community, as always, has found a way into Valve's active project database, while this access has now been blocked the internet has already made a list on Pastebin. The full list is available there and it holds some interesting project titles.

While there are some clear jokes on the list such as "gayben" and "WUBWUBWUBWUBWUBWUBWUBWUBWUBWUBWUBWUB_EWEWEWEWEWEWEW_GAGAGAGAGAGA" and "Yo Dawg" among many others, there are some more serious titles in the list. Such as "Half-Life 3", "Steam Box", "Left 4 Dead 3" and even "Source 2".

There is also a post on Valve Time that has screen captions from within various "Jira" groups, which is how the community gained access to this database. Jira is a database program that Valve uses to manage its projects and track bugs. Among the images is a list showing all 42 employees that are listed in the mailing group for Half-Life 3, which as Valve Time points out is a substantial number considering Valve only has roughly 300 employees in total. Some of the names will be recognisable by those who know the names of key Valve employees and what they have worked on.

While this probably does not come as a shock to many that Valve is indeed working on a new Source engine, Half-Life 3 and even a new Left 4 Dead. It also becomes apparent from the list that Valve is working on Half-Life 2: Episode 3 and some kind of "movie" based on it. There is also a title for "CS2" next to "CSGO", thus it seems Valve is also working on a new Counter-Strike to launch in conjunction with Half-Life 3 and the Source 2 engine. Do bear in mind though that some of the titles in the list are no longer in development.

Haha Bobfish, let the console/PC conspiracies begin! They did skip a few generations though... :P

Valve will announce it when they are in the mood to. Though in all seriousness I think they are simply waiting till they have the game to the point in development they want it and are satisfied with its progress that they can have an estimated release date. They probably want to avoid Team Fortress 2 situation, where they announced it but then ended up fully remaking it and nearly 10 years later finally remade it again and thus ended up with the TF2 the way it was launched a few years ago.

Thus why for HL3 they are just waiting and waiting until it is to the point they are happy with it. Also people seem to be forgetting about a small something called "Episode 3". They can't release or even announce HL3 until Episode 3 has been released at the very least...

You know, I've been thinking about this. So far, Valve, despite being a PC company, have released a new Half-Life for each console generation. You don't think..?

Valve will think about Half Life 3 once they're done counting their money.
