If This Isn't Syndicate, Then Call Me Jimmy
Satellite Reign is a thing that is happening. Or, might happen, at least. The game is up on Kickstarter now, and with 30 days to go, it's already well over 15% of the way. Developed by a company called 5 Lives Studios, Satellite Reign is supposed to be a "real-time, class-based strategy game, set in an open world cyberpunk city."
Anyone who was a gamer in the mid 90s will likely not need to hear more than that - especially after seeing the image below. Yeah. Syndicate. This isn't just inspired by Syndicate, this is Syndicate. No, not that Syndicate shooter from Starbreeze. I'm talking about the classic from Bullfrog. I am giddy as hell.
The team consists of only a handful employees, but their experience comes from all sorts of games. L.A. Noire, GTA 4, Darksiders 2 and, yep, even the Syndicate series. Hopping along is Russell Shaw, composer behind a bunch of 90s classics, including Syndicate and Syndicate Wars. That is, if the first stretch goal is met.
Of course, before you start getting psyched, keep in mind that this is just the Kickstarter camapign. The game is not currently in any shape to be shown off - hence the concept art - and the total they want is £350.000. That's over $530.000. That's no small sum, but if you're a fan of isometric tactical games, or anything related to cyberpunk, then you'll likely want to open your wallet for 5 Lives.
