How to Transfer your Dragon Age: Inquisition Data

By drcoolio34507-07-2015

The recent announcement from BioWare that Dragon Age: Inquisition is leaving last-gen consoles behind and only making future DLC for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC had more than a few gamers understandably worrying about their save games and accounts on the old consoles. Fortunately, Inquisition has come up with a save importer, allowing gamers to transfer their save games from Xbox 360 to Xbox One or PS3 to PS4.

The process looks overwhelming initially, but is actually pretty simple. Here's the quick and short of what you have to do on either PS3 or Xbox 360 to transfer your save to the new generation:

First, travel to Kirkwall and go to the Black Emporium, a secret shop that will only appear if you've downloaded The Black Emporium DLC and completed The Black Emporium war table operation and the Scout the Hinterlands quest. Once there, open the save game menu and press L2/LT to export to the current generation system. Once you've done all the a message should pop-up telling you that you've done a good job and your ready to go dragon slaying.

Be warned though, "attempting to export an additional savegame overwrites the previous exported savegame," so be sure to only export one at a time.

You can transfer your multiplayer data too by going to the Main Menu and proceeding to "Extras." From there, you should see and select the option to "Migrate Multiplayer Data." From there a message should pop up informing you about what's happening to your data and all you have to do is mash X/A to get through the rest.

PC can get the new DLC just fine. What're they going to do? make a PC2? #PCMasterRace.

It's a cruel move on BioWare's part to move a game from the old console to new in the middle of that games life, but Mike Ladlaw, creative director for Inquisition, would surely tell you that the game faced "memory limitations" that just aren't there on the newer, more powerful systems.

Note: You can't transfer data from PS3 to Xbox One or Xbox 360 data to a PS4. You can only go from 360 to Xbox One or PS3 to PS4.
