Hotline Miami 2 Moves the Action to the 90’s
A lot of you will remember Hotline Miami, the bright neon murder simulator made by Dennaton Games. And a few of you will remember that there's a sequel on the way, which more details have finally emerged on. Speaking to Joystiq at GDC, the duo behind Dennaton Games - Jonatan Söderström and Dennis Wedin - spoke about some of the planned elements for the game, such as the desire to achieve a greater emotional experience, and setting's move to the early 90's. The protagonist of the original will be making a return, but in a minor role, and the music will feel the same - with many tracks returning, along with a couple of new songs on tap - but other than that it seems that the entire story will attempt to be different.
The other major news is that Hotline 2 will be the last in the series, with both developers wanting to move onto new intellectual and creative territory - which is always a positive, I hate seeing good games become progressively boiled down to mass-appealing crap as publishers push devs to keep working on successful franchises...
