Heavy Gear Assault to Reach Kickstarter in April
What with the recent glut of Mech games, you'd have thought the craze would have died down by now. However, this apparently is not the case, as Heavy Gear Assault, created by Stompy Bot Productions and Mektek Studios, will be hitting Kickstarter soon, in approximately two weeks. Working on the Unreal 4 engine, the companies are aiming for $800,000 to develop and produce the game. It will be free-to-play, with subscription models, a la Mechwarrior Online crossed with perhaps, Star Conflict.
Open Beta will be incoming soon, before summer 2014 arrives, and another closed beta is planned for the end of the year. There will be a variety of reward tiers, as per the norm in these Kickstarter ventures. So, still excited? I don't know, it's getting hard to bring up the enthusiasm needed for these things any longer. Perhaps this is Kickstarter fatigue... still, the trailer is pretty exciting. There is hope yet.
