Halo 3 For PC...Again?

If unsubstantiated rumour and references within AMD Catalyst beta drivers are anything to go by, then Halo 3 could be in the works for a PC version. A very long awaited and much rumoured PC version.

An investigation into the CAP of the 13.3 Catalyst beta driver by this site as revealed the lines and references in question. The lines are "<profile Area="UDX" Usage="Halo3" Notes="Halo3">" and "<application Title="Halo3" File="halo3*.exe">". Whilst this kind of thing is nowhere close to an announcement, it is another rumour to add to the pile. After all, Halo 3 has to be referenced there for a reason. The site, kn00tcn, also notes that a similar thing was discovered with Battlefield 1943, but as we know, nothing ever came of that.

However, this also ties in with the previous find we reported on that references to Halo 3 and other such games were spotted in the Steam database. This was something that Microsoft was quick to deny, stating that they "currently do not have plans to release any 'Halo' titles on Steam". Huh, I guess only time will tell.

Since Halo 1 and 2 are both on PC, it makes sense for Microsoft to eventually bring the other entries over, starting with Halo 3. I played it on the Xbox 360 when it came out and had a blast, as I have done with all Halo games. Now, just bring us Halo: ODST, Halo: Reach and Halo 4, then we'll be set with all the Halo-y goodness.

BF1943 for PC was in the development, but dropped. Most often game appearing in drivers means it will be released on PC. BTW, we may expect semi-arbitrary "only for Windows 8" release.

Well I'm pretty exited.
