Gunslinger Trailer Goes Tarantino
If you ever fancied a film from the Western genre, then you really need to check out this new trailer for Call of Juarez: Gunslinger. The game is the fourth in the series, and marks a return to the Wild West after Techland's big blunder that was The Cartel.
The gameplay trailer/music video clearly draws inspiration from numerous sources. Quentin Tarantino and Sergio Leone spring to mind rather quickly, and the original song featured in the trailer is something one could mistake for a Johnny Cash cover. The art style seems to combine the cel-shading made popular in Borderlands, with a more gritty realistic tone found in previous Call of Juarez games.
Though The Cartel was a buggy, broken mess with an incoherent story, terrible gameplay and production value at basement level, the two previous instalments of the series were some really ambitiously flawed gems. Now, I don't know who this Silas Greaves guy is, but if he's anywhere near as badass as this trailer, then we're in for a hefty ride. Call of Juarez: Gunslinger is slated for release on May 22nd, with a somewhat peculiar launch price attached.

Yeah the pictures may be bullshots. Let's not hope that's the case, though. And let's hope the game turns out to be awesome, despite the suspiciously low launch price. Let's not forget that Blood Dragon is another Ubisoft game launched with the same price. Most reviews say that game kicks ass. :)

In the screenshots the cell-shading looks better than in the video. So I remain curious as to how it will play out in-game.

I don't think the cel-shading is that dominant. In fact, it's barely noticable sometimes. I think it's done very tastefully.

Why are they doing cell shaded, it just doesn't seem right for Call of Juarez, especially when what always made their games so unique (at least the first two) was the graphical fidelity... :O
