Guild Wars 2 Paid PvP Removed

In the latest update of Guild Wars 2, the Flame and Frost Update: The Gathering Storm, a new slew of features and updates were included to the game, such as guild missions, new PvP maps and a continuation of the Living Story. However, most importantly, it seems to have eradicated the Paid PvP tournaments in lieu of the improved matchmaking system. The explanation for it is as below, as explained by Tyler Bearce from ArenaNet:
"One of the reasons we initially introduced Paid Tournaments was to create a place for hyper-competitive, highly skilled players to find matches with other players of comparable skill, leaving the Free Tournament system available for more casual competitive play."
1 and 3 round free tournament are available upon the patching, each with separate ranks for matchmaking, whereas any remaining Tournament Tickets may not be exchanged for various other goods of in-game value.
