GTA V PC Refrences in PS3 Game Files

Avatar
By NAG3LT24-09-2013

Currently GTA V is only available on X360 and PS3, but as the past has indicated, it should come to PC around half a year after the console release. However, this time the concrete evidence of the on-going work on the PC version was found in the XML file for the PS3 version. Containing information about the bugs found in different game builds, some of them are marked as [PC] and contain some things that are clearly not supported in the currently released console versions. Here is a taste, straight from the source:

•693821  - [PC] Player gets low frame rate and spike after longer sessions

•789942 - [PT] [PC] Player is asked to be signed in on the PC when loading or saving games, this causes issues on PC as there is nothing to sign into yet

•806124 - [PT][LDS][PC][Phone][Camera] - Game becomes stuck when you take a photo on the PC version.

•868907 - [PB][PC] Crash - When accessing "last gen" mode the game crashes. - rage::grcTextureFactoryDX11::LockRenderTarget

•1089039 –[PC] Character models and peds are a lower resolution that normal

•1423878 - [PC] Memory usage is very high and increases quickly

•646283  - [PC] [PB] Crash - rage::invsqrtf(float)

•614622 - [LB][PT][LDS][DX11] Blooms too much on smog weather setting.

•685283 - [PT] Crash inside grass plant renderer on DX11 only

•985459 – PC - [PT][PB] Crash - > game_win32_beta_dx11.exe!strRequest::Release() Line 47 + 0xf bytes C++

PC Only Issues:

•1386232 - [PT] [PB] Crash - CPathNodeRouteSearchHelper::FindUpcomingJunctionTurnDirection

•1293601 - [PC] Audio gets corrupted at certain points and becomes crackly

PC Only Issues:

•(no x64 prebuild cover)

I think most of those are quite self-explanatory as far as confirmation of a PC version goes. GTA V will support DX11 and some effects that are not available on currently released console versions. The inclusion of 64-bit binary is not a sure thing from these configuration files, but it is likely that Rockstar will release the game on next-gen consoles together with PC, so having 64-bit support is very likely. It seems that for people with older machines there is some "last gen" mode, likely requiring less resources to run. As these are bug reports, it is obvious that there is still work to do, with all the memory leaks and crashes. The first build specifically mentioning PC includes 2012-07-02 date stamp, so we know that GTA V on PC has already been in development for at least 15 months, possibly even more.

It is good to see confirmation that GTA V PC is in the works and is receiving improved features. Hopefully, the bugs still present in beta builds will be fixed before the release and V will be launched in a better state on PC than IV was.

Yeah i really want a date at least, its so tempting to go out and get it for my PS3 but I am not, I swear! It will be worth the wait, and at least BF4 is out soon.

Another day, another rumor...

I'm still waiting for Watch Dogs pre-order on Steam to go live.

I hope we get a confirmation date soon as well, I have enjoyed all the other GTA's and would love to see what mods, if any they will do for GTA V

Bleh. All these stupid rumors about something we KNOW will happen sooner or later. I don't want rumors about whether it's coming or not. I want confirmation on the date, dammit!
