Having 3 main characters in the new GTA is a huge departure for the series, and for any open world crime game for that matter. Every GTA game has you in the shoes of one main protagonist for dozens of hours, but their stories get tiresome after that many hours of gameplay.

Throw that stuff out the window! In GTA V you will take control of multiple characters as they complete 5-6 heists over the course of the game. It will make things more interesting seeing the story from multiple perspectives, and just mix things up a bit. GTA 4 had DLC that had wildly different characters and stories. This inspired Rockstar to try this new approach, and could be the shot in the arm that GTA needs in a post Saints Row 3 world.
