GRID is Going Auto

GRID has come back and it's fast and beautiful. GRID: Autosport intends to 'go back to its roots' by bringing in more realism, new locations, and tracks and cars to be mastered.

In terms of Handling, Codemasters have explained that while they are pushing for more realism since GRID 2, we should not expect it be simulation like, but more authentic. They seem to be putting a lot of effort into each car, giving it a more unique driving experience, with a noticeable difference from the others.

As for the different styles of racing, or 'Racing Disciplines', they act as the 'core foundations' in the game. So far 5 have been revealed (Touring, Endurance, Open Wheel, Tuner and Street). It is unknown if more will be added. In each Discipline a series of cars is dedicated, from Muscle to Prototype. For example, in Touring, it is aggressive and packed, whereas Street races require quick thinking. You will need to customise your vehicle to adapt to the specifics of the Disciplines.

Locations revealed so far are Hockenheim, Sepang, San Francisco, Jarama and Yas Marina. But there is much more to expect: there are 17 other locations with over 100 tracks combined.

The actual gameplay revealed in the announcement trailer and released screenshots shows much to be enthusiastic about, with a little left to the imagination. Single player will be career-based, with teams, sponsors, rivals, and even teammates. As for the multiplayer aspect, a system known as RaceNet will be used, Racing Clubs and team colours will be an interesting feature as you play with friends, with new challenges added every week for players to compete in.

Ah yes, and the community should congratulate each other. The developers have listened to you. How this game turns out is up to you. The developers are bringing back features and adding more to them, such as the removed cockpit view, along with the added dashboard view. Why not help out as well by adding to the community via the Forums, Facebook, or Twitter?

GRID comes out June 24th in the USA and release on June 27th in Europe.
