Gods Will Be Launching
Gods Will Be Watching is showing all the signs of indie masterpiece. An old idea brought to life again by new innovations, hard decisions, and pixels. Lots of pixels.
Regardless of your love or hatred of the indie genre, you have to admire what Gods Will Be Watching is doing at least. From their descriptions of their game as a "point and click thriller about hard decisions and moral dilemmas in order to survive," it seems like they're the indie Telltale Games. Double that with the fact that the developer, Deconstructeam, are building a world with "no good or evil, just decisions" and posing questions to you like "is eating your friends the best way to stay alive, or just the easier?" before the game is even released makes it even more likely.
That's by no means a bad thing of course. Point and click gameplay coupled with good stories and ethical decisions have belonged to solely to Telltale for a while now; finally some new blood steps into the arena, and this blood is in space and has a robots! It looks great to me from the trailer alone, but whether it is the next ET or the next Monkey Island, you can expect a review out of us for it soon.
Gods Will Be Watching is coming out tomorrow, July 24th, through Steam, GOG, and Humble Bundle. Here's to hoping that you're as excited for more pointing, clicking, and eating your friends to stay alive as I am.
