Get Lost in The Forest
Do you like beautiful islands? Do you like being tasked with surviving, Minecraft style? Do you like horrifying monsters? Well The Forest, with its debut trailer, is all you've been looking for. Equal parts Minecraft and Far Cry 3 and packed with plenty of horror, this is one game I suddenly became very interested in.
The game has just had its trailer launched, as well as a Steam Greenlight page set up. If you like what you see, I recommend you go and vote it up for a Steam release. The footage in the trailer may be pre-alpha, but there is definitely gameplay in there, showing off some tree cutting and camp building. Like all the best survival horror games, things soon take a turn for the worse at night...
The game's site promises a whole lot: a "living, breathing forest with changing weather patterns, plants that grow and die. Tides that roll in and out with the day/night cycle. Below ground explore a vast network of caves and underground lakes", as well as the ability to "Chop down trees to build a camp, or start a fire to keep warm. Scavenge food to keep yourself from starving. Find and plant seeds to grow food." What could be more fun? Probably the inclusion of the trailer's horrifying creatures, which the game's site describes as genetic mutants.
I'm always up for more horror and surviving, especially in a game world which looks as beautiful as this, what do you make of The Forest?
