GC: A Few More DayZ…
STAHP THE PRESSES! DayZ doesn't have a release window anymore!
The standalone version of the uber popular ArmA II mod has been delayed according to Dean 'Rocket' Hall in speaking with Joystiq at Gamescom. Apparently the development team is still waiting on the "core network architecture" to be completed before they can even fathom a launch date.
"The awkward thing is the only thing we're waiting on is the core network architecture", Hall told Joystiq, adding that, "That's the kind of thing only a few people can work on. It's very specialized. It's like, you can't throw more pilots at a plane. You put a thousand pilots in a plane it's not going to fly any faster."
He further went on how it'll be a good thing if this delay results in some people suddenly losing interest in the multiplayer survive 'em up, "I think the best thing that could happen is if DayZ fell off a little. I think if DayZ has a soft launch it's the best thing that can happen to it. Because then a few people will play it and say 'this is cool, I want to play it with my friends."
Given the notoriously glitchy nature of your typical highly-anticipated-online-multiplayer-game launches that last comment might just be good ol' Rocket trying to play it safe.
