Neverwinter will be launching its first free expansion pack on August 22nd and it's called Fury of the Feywild. This new content expansion gives players access to a new area, "the enchanted woods of Sharandar", as well as the chance to play as two new elf races. There are also new weapons, items and rewards for the taking and new beasties to fight.

The CEO of Cryptic Studios, Jack Emmert, says of Fury of the Feywilds:

"We're excited to announce the release date of our first free expansion -- what we and D&D fans call a Module -- for Neverwinter. Come August 22, we're releasing our first expansion. That's less than two months from launch; pretty cool. New and exciting content is at the heart of making and expanding a persistent world. Our goal is to deliver engaging and constant updates to our players so that they always have something new to discover in game. Fury of the Feywild is the first of many Modules to come in Neverwinter."

The D&D Brand Director at Wizards of the Coast, Nathan Stewart, also spoke about the module and said, "This new content for Neverwinter continues to support our goal of creating fantastic digital D&D experiences. Neverwinter is one of D&D's most iconic settings, and Fury of the Feywild is a fantastic addition to keep this exciting story going." According to the press release, the new module "chronicles an attempt by Fomorian Giants to seize the Elven outpost of Sharandar."

Alongside the expansion, 2 content packs are being released. These are the Knight of the Feywild Pack and the Feywild starter pack. These are available to players now and Knight of Feywild costs $59.99 whilst the starter pack costs $19.99. Each pack contains new companions and items in order to prepare players for their adventures in Sharandar. You can learn more and get your hands on these packs here. And if you're new to the Neverwinter MMORPG you can start playing for free here.

So what do you Neverwinter fans think of the new expansion? Do you like what you see? And what are your thoughts about the new Feywild packs? Let us know in the comments below.
