Fortifying an Aging Fortress

Amidst all the hullabaloo over the big new entries expected in the next few months/year or so, it's easy to forget that not everyone has their finger on the beating pulse of cutting edge technology. Valve quite succinctly reminded us of that by improving Team Fortress 2 for XP users. A recent patch created some, albeit minor, issues that were allowing players to get up to all sorts of shenanigans beneath the map. A teeny, tiny noclip issue that made it almost impossible for some players to do anything, because other players were spawning turrets and such where they shouldn't be. And thus, could not be reached to combat them. Like I said, nothing serious.

If I sound extremely condescending here, it's because I am. Though not towards Valve. It's highly commendable of them to fix this issue because, let's face it, most devs these days would just roll their eyes, make a "pft" sound and tell their playerbase to suck it up and buy newer kit. But Valve? Those guys wants their games running on 1980s digital watches. And that is why we love them.

Hail Gaben!

Seriously though, it's really good to see them still offering support to aging software like this.

True, true. That still doesn't stop other devs from ignoring major issues. Especially for older software
