Former EA Man Enters the Rift

It was John Carmack who was the first to jump from the Id Software ship to the Oculus gravy train, a sensible enough move given Carmack's history of dabbling in things that the invisible judge in the sky never intended man to dabble in, but we now have another somewhat noted individual hedging all his bets into the Oculus pot, former EA Senior Vice President David DeMartini has joined Oculus VR as head of worldwide publishing.

Describing his responsibilities at Oculus DeMartini, in a statement made to Gamastura, explained it as "not particularly different from what I did for seven years", referring to his past stint at the EA Partners program. "I'm figuring out how to partner effectively with big developers, small developers, all the way down to the individual who just wants to make something great for the Rift," he added. DeMartini comes off as a sound addition to Oculus, given how the EA Partners program has been the best thing about EA for the past decade or so, resulting in non-risk-averse games such as Brutal Legend being published by a company known for sticking to what works most of the time.
