FFXIV has come a long way since it's less than stellar launch at 1.0 back in 2010; it's almost hard to believe that it was that long ago already. With patch 2.0 the game improved greatly, relaunching as Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn and promising a lot of future content updates. Patch 2.2 is one of those updates.

Patch 2.2: Through the Maelstrom gives you all the things you'd want out of a major content patch. Hairstyles, fishing, Gardening, and more important stuff like main scenario quests, new side quests, more dungeons, more extreme modes, and new bosses including one named "The Whorleater". No, you aren't the only person that read that as something else.

With 1.8 million subscribers, a new patch launching in less than two weeks, and the PlayStation 4 edition launching next month, there probably hasn't been a better time to jump back into Final Fantasy XIV, especially if you were one of the people that played before it's relaunch.
