F1 2013 – Autodromo Nazionale di Monza (Hot Lap)
It seems these Hot Laps are very popular amongst both Codemasters and its fans, as yet another Hot Lap gameplay video has been released. This time around it shows off yet another circuit namely the "Autodromo Nazionale di Monza" that hosts the Italian Grand Prix. The Hot Lap is raced as Fernando Alonso in his Ferrari and is commentated by Anthony Davidson who is currently a Sky Sports commentator.
The Autodromo Nazionale Monza circuit was finished in 1922 and was built in the Royal Villa of Monza park. This circuit is arguably one of the more straighter circuits in the GP, though it does feature some very nasty sharp turns. Due to the combination of the sharp turns, long straights and yet thin roads (making passing very hard and dangerous); there have been quite a few accidents and deaths on this circuit. Since its opening in 1922, the circuit has claimed the lives of 52 F1 drivers and 35 spectators. As a result of this, the circuit has seen many modifications over the years in order to improve its safety. In particular, the circuit is constantly receiving more run-off areas for when passing does not go according to play, as well as more safety to protect the spectators in case of an incident.
In terms of gameplay, it will be interesting if the title features multiple configurations of this circuit as it has seen some very radical changes over the years. This will definitely be among the fan favourites when this game comes out as it will be one of the few circuits where players will get to remain at full throttle for long stretches and yet at the same time, will have to remain on their toes at all times and slow down in time for the sudden sharp turns.
If you too want to take your chances on this infamous circuit, then keep an eye out for F1 2013 on Steam or in retail come October 4th in Europe and the 8th in the US. It will launch on PC, PS3 and XB360.
