Yo jurors! You might have heard about this little game that released in February called Evolve. I reviewed it, I loved it. However, there were some issues with the game’s pricing model and excessive amount of DLC. These issues turned many players off from the game and the active player count plummeted quickly from an all-time peak of 27,000 concurrent players to a daily peak of between 1,000 and 2,000 players.

Undaunted, Turtle Rock Studios have continued to support the game with new maps and modes and this latest release is yet another mode. Arena mode is for the players that just want a good scrap. While much of Evolve’s core gameplay comes down the monster trying to hide until it can eat enough to increase its power and players trying to hunt and kill it, this latest mode does away with all of that. Arena mode locks all of the players in a permanent mobile arena (Evolve players will know that the standard mobile arena only lasts a short while) for a straight up fight. This is essentially Evolve’s idea of a deathmatch.

Personally, I like the addition. I like it both because new free modes are always welcome in just about any game and because sometimes I just want to get to the fighting without all of the cat and mouse.
