Evil Genius Sequel In The Works
Though it's been rumored for quite some time, a possible sequel to the Bond-themed dungeon keeper-style Evil Genius is now pretty much confirmed.
In an open letter from Rebellion - the guys who brought you Sniper Elite V2 and Rogue Trooper, and now holds the rights for Evil Genius - it is made clear that this is to be a fully fledged sequel, and is not to be confused with the upcoming F2P social game set in the same universe. However, no publishers seem too interested at this point.
"We've always wanted to make a fully-featured PC follow-up. We've taken concepts for an Evil Genius sequel to publishers before but we weren't able to secure the funding we needed. However since then, we've looked into alternative ways to get this game funded and created. We are going to make this happen. And it's going to be soon. [...] In the next few days a key member from our Oxford studio will be in touch. They want to engage with the EG community and get you involved in the first steps we take towards the next Evil Genius game on PC."
So what does this entail? Will Rebellion ask for fans to fill out a petition, similar to The Division? Or will perhaps Rebellion go to Kickstarter, like so many others before them? We'll hopefully know by the end of the week.
