Eternity has a Beginning, Well...a Release Date
Yo jurors! If you're in the market for a new RPG the likes of classics such as Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale and Planescape: Torment then mark your calendars for March 26, 2015. That's the release date for Obsidian's new RPG entitled Pillars of Eternity and this a WORLDWIDE release date. None of that regional release date shenanigans. Thank you!
So what is it? Well, according to Obsidian, it's a Kickstarter backed RPG that was funded in 2012 and looks to bring out the best qualities of the three titles I mentioned earlier. For those that don't know, those 3 games routinely and almost unanimously end up on top 10 PC RPG's of all time lists every year. The title is being published by Paradox Interactive who explains that they've given Obsidian total creative freedom with the title. Thank you!
Sporting 6 playable races, 11 classes, a behind-the-scenes "100 sided die" rolling mechanic and a host of spells, abilities and equipment this sounds like it'll be a solid RPG. I repeat...sounds like. I'm excited for another good RPG and this one has all of the ingredients on paper but I'm not a fan of buggy games and both Obsidian and Paradox have earned a reputation for somewhat buggy titles at launch. On the flip side, they also have a reputation for solid game support via patching so my fingers are crossed that this one will hopefully be solid on release day so I'm not tearing what little hair I have left out.
What say you jurors? Will this be the next RPG to hold your attention for Eternity? Or will you take a pass in favor of one of the many other gaming choices hitting in March? Let us know in the comments.
