Eternal Sanity

Shadow of the Eternals is a "third-person action/adventure game steeped in psychological horror", something which for most PC Gamers equates almost immediately to a potentially awesome game. Psychological horror has been a watchword for great concepts and executions, and this one seems to be trying it's best to join the list - as the spiritual successor to Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem, made by the creators themselves, it has large shoes to fill in - spanning thousands of years of history, it certainly does not lack ambition.

However, what is interesting is the new sanity system, previously found in such games as Call of Cthulhu or the much-loved/feared Amnesia: The Dark Descent. A sanity system does go quite a way towards adding on to the horror of a game, giving it in-game effects and a reason to further scare the living hell out of players - although hopefully it does not gamify systems that should stay suitably arcane. What do you think? Is it a gimmick, or is it an innovation? Check out more at their Kickstarter page here.

It's not so much about interest, as it is about marketing. Again, I bring back up Double Fine. Not all their games are great. The Cave is proof of that. And most of their games are very niche. I doubt many people have actually played Stacking. And yet, they made millions of dollars for some point-n-click game. They're now completely mismanaging that project, wasting money left and right. Our money. And yet, people threw money at them once again when they threw another project up on Kickstarter.

It's not about the interest, or about how good the games are. From the gameplay footage here, this looks like a damn fun game.

It's all about marketing. Double Fine were smart. They marketed wisely.

Well, to be fair. They reached almost 300k

Maybe they should just accept lower production costs, make the first chapter shorter, something like that. I have a feeling it will be made no matter what at this stage

and at this point they probably won't do yet another kickstarter.
It's clear that people don't want this game made or it would have been funded the first time.

I still love Eternal Darkness.

Also, Jess will be pissed that she wasn't here to write this

I loved Eternal Darkness! Seriously loved it. I'm now upset however that this game is nearly at the end of it's second kickstarter campaign and it's still way off the money. Not sure this one will ever make it unfortunately...
