EA Shuts Down Teeny Tiny Freemium Studio

In an Escapist Exclusive news post it has been reported that EA is closing down its freemium oriented North Carolina studio. EA is so far keeping Mum about it, but the website has already 404'd. However, this is the internet, and nothing ever really goes away for good (yes, even and especially those pictures of your naughty bits), so the cached version states that "we don't just make games at EA North Carolina, we run businesses with our live titles". Well, not anymore, it seems, especially since the greatest game the studio ever made - they claim as much - is MONOPOLY Hotels for iOS made back in 2011. Naturally, since I don't own technology with cutting edge features like rounded corners (or a curse that makes you sleep outside the store to be the first to get the latest iteration), I don't know how good that was, but freemium games have a way of sucking more often than not.
Only time will tell if we'll hear about these folks again. And probably on Kickstarter, unless EA consumes them back into the blob.
