It's that time of year again, the Consumerist has got to the semi-finals of its Worst Company in America poll, and it looks like EA is once again going to take home the Golden Poo. EA has a history of responding to these awards, but this time they're jumping the gun and have released a statement before winning.

The statement, written by Chief Operating Officer Peter Moore, looks at some of the allegations against EA, saying that although they've made plenty of mistakes - including 'server shut downs too early, games that didn't meet expectations, missteps on new pricing models and most recently, severely fumbling the launch of SimCity' - some of the complaints made are complete fallacies. Some of what he brings up could be legitimate rebuttals, like the supposed fact that SimCity's Always Online function is claimed to be DRM when it's not (go to town on that one commenters), or responding to complaints about there not being room for Origin in a world with Steam (apparently 45 Million users can't be wrong - again, comment away). However, some of the complaints are just plain weird (apparently there's mailing lists telling people to vote EA as the worst company over the choice of athlete on the Madden cover, or because of their allowing of people to create LGBT characters - which I'm pretty sure that's just BioWare's games). He finishes by saying 'We can do better.  We will do better.  But I am damn proud of this company, the people around the globe who work at EA, the games we create and the people that play them.'

Personally, I wonder if he paid any attention to the complaints about DRM, DLC, Online Passes, microtransactions, buying and destroying developers, forced multiplayer, forcing players to use Origin and anything else we the gamers have complained about for years now. Maybe we should make it clear that that is why people will vote EA as the worst of the worst - which you can do here.
