EA Giving us Money?

Yes, 'tis true, 'tis true. As of yesterday, the infamous Electronic Arts implemented a service change to their much maligned Origin digital distribution platform. Any EA (though only EA) software purchased through can be returned for a full refund within 24 hours. It may not be perfect, but considering EA are the first online platform to offer this, gotta' give them props for that. Consider it a testing the water sort of thing.

Now, I'm quite certain there will be a significant of the obligatory "EA SUXXORS Y U NO ALL GAYMS?!?one!?" without even a passing thought for the legal ramifications of such a transaction. They, or any other distributor implementing such a policy *cough* Steam *cough* would be in a legal nightmare arranging all the individual agreements with all the individual developers and publishers. So no, it's not great news, but it is a step in the right direction.

To be fair, if you buy a game from Origin and you can complete it to the point where you don't want to play it anymore within the first 24 hours, it's likely not worth the damn money anyway.

I'll third that.

Then again, if they're making games you can finish in less than a day consistently, I'd consider that grounds for asking for my money back to be honest

Yeah this could be abused like a cheap whore. There may be a catch where if youve finished the game then you cant get the refund cause its obvious that you enjoyed it enough to finish it. Im sure all will be made clear soon enough

Since this thing can easily be abused i imagine ea will have restrictions on this.
Still it is a good thing.
