EA Expected the Inquisition

Yes, I know it was originally announced as Dragon Age 3, but it seems that EA has dropped that portion of the name in favour of the more dramatic sounding Inquisition. However, it was not merely a cosmetic change - but instead, as explained through an interview with EA Labels president Frank Gibeau, a thematic decision.

Essentially it's going to mark the beginning of a new story arc, where EA "felt like we wanted to bring more attention to the word Inquisition, because that's more the story arc of what it's like. There's a whole bunch of gameplay and features and big story choices related to how you go through this Inquisition that happens in the world." Furthermore, they wanted to "draw more attention to the fact that Inquisition is an all-new chapter inside of the Dragon Age universe, as opposed to people expecting a follow-on to Dragon Age 1 and 2 in a literal, linear sense."

Buying the ideas behind it? Or simply thinking of this as another marketing gimmick, or even trying to distance itself from Mass Effect 3? Let us know in the comments.

Thanks, IGN!

It seems to be leaning a lot more towards the second. Morrigan is a major part of the game, judging from the reveal trailer *sage nod*

Well not sure you are right on that Bobfish though? As it seems this is basically to begin a "new story arc" thus a completely new story line that has nothing to do with the previous two.

A slot in would mean it would not continue the story line but simply cover the same story but from the perspective of a different character or even same character but without continuing the main storyline of the franchise.

While this will start an entire new storyline for the franchise. Basically to avoid the mistakes they made with DA2 I think...

Just wanna' say, I called it. Right there in the announcement link, I said it looked more like a slot in than a sequel. Totally called it *puts on sunglasses*
