EA Does Some “Organizational Restructuring”

Organizational restructuring also known as layoffs, or firing people, is what has sadly taken place at Electronic Arts. 900 people have been laid off. This was made known at the most recent conference call at the end of EAs fiscal year. These are the most recent layoffs at EA but there have been much more not that long ago. EA claims that this is all due to the "next generation" of consoles being released later this year, so because of that the overall headcount at EA was reduced by ten percent. As of March 2012 EA employed roughly 9,000 people and that is a lot more than I thought they had.
I wonder if the recent loss of people at EA means that some of their talent will move on to do something else, maybe they can create some fresh new franchises. We don't really know who left the company but maybe we will find out soon enough. With the recent loss of their CEO, they are really trying to shake things up in their ranks. We will see once the next generation of consoles hits what this will mean for us gamers.

It's just so much fun to hate on EA! And they always give us more fodder. :D

Shouldn't new platforms, thus new architecture to learn about, be reason for taking on more people?

Seems bullshitish and I do not really get the relation between new consoles coming and firing 10% os our empolees. EA has problems and that is it, let's face it :P
