Dying To Move Freely? Check This Out

Well, you can't blame Polish developer Techland for not being ambitious at least. According to them, their first person, open world parkouring zombie slasher is the "final stage" for first person games in terms of freedom. It's a bit of a ridiculous thing to say, seeing as we pretty much know that, within a few years the game's tech will be surpassed by the tech of other games just like what's happened before and will continue to happen over and over again for a long time still.

... But that doesn't mean they might not be right about the free-flow movement in their game compared to other games of a similar nature. Taking a look at the video embedded above, it's clear that they put a lot of thought and effort into their free-running system, taking inspiration from games like Assassin's Creed and Mirror's Edge. We do get to see a few gameplay snippets from new areas as well, like the bigger cities with taller buildings, and briefly a river in some industrial area outside the city near the end of the video too.

Dying Light is set to release in February 2015 on the PC and both the current gen and previous gen consoles. In case you missed it, check out the Gamescom trailer from a couple of weeks back, showcasing a variety of previously unseen gameplay, including Co-Op.
