Ubisoft Getting A Little Touchy

Ubisoft have raised complaints about the title of an upcoming, already successfully crowd funded, 2D platformer called Super Ubi land. The product of one Andrew Augustin, it's set for the PC and Mac, about an alien called Ubi who crash lands on Earth and must find his way back home. "Been exchanging emails with Ubisoft. Unfortunately, we have to change the title of #SuperUbiLand. Stay tuned," he said via Twitter. Following up with two more tweets in which he was firm to make clear that Ubi were not being at all unreasonable on the matter.

He's right of course, they are well within their rights to request such a relatively minor change. And, though the game has been fully funded, it's not like it's set to be released tomorrow and they just now decided to make a fuss over it. Still, it doesn't sit quite right with me. It just feels a little heavy handed in my eyes. I'm quite the fan of Ubisoft, as it happens, but it's still disappointing to see something so relatively minor getting their heckles up. No matter how politely they may have done it.

On the other hand, we're now reporting on this, which means Notion Games are getting more press, so it's not all bad. Super Land looks to be an extremely charming little game and a little bit of extra publicity won't hurt I'm sure. Perhaps that was Ubisoft's plan all along? To take one for the team? Could be, could be. What do you think? Careful not to crash land in our comment box, it will make it all the more difficult for you to find the submit button.

Oh, yes, that was, ahem, a 'clerical' error on my part. Of course

Look at the title. Now back to your address bar. Now back at the title. Now back at the bar. Sadly, the title is not the bar one. But if you keep reading PJ every day...

You get the picture ^^ (also, my fail for using the word "topic" instead of "title" ;P)

In other news, Ubisoft asks Latin textbooks to stop using the pronoun ubi.

Ubi terrarum common sense est?
