The VGAs were held last Friday night. A lot of top developers were there to be awarded for their games and to congratulate each other, or plot revenge if they lost. I don’t presume to know their relationships.

Among the attendees was Gabe Newell, who told Kotaku of an interesting project Valve is working on. Apparently they’re working to get DotA 2 running on tablets. “That ended up being kind of a disappointment”, said Newell. “But the good news is that tablets are getting faster very quickly, so I think we’ll get the kind of performance we want and other and developers want in the near future”.

DotA 2 on a tablet. Could it work? While fast-paced, it isn’t a game that requires a lot from your fingers. Done right I could see DotA 2, or a version of it, working on tablet with touch controls. At any rate the tablet technology isn’t quite there yet. “It’s a good one for us to test with,” says Newell.
