Details from The Borderpanels
A little while back, it was made clear that Telltale Games had a whole ton of balls in the air at once. Working on season two of The Walking Dead and slowly continuing The Wolf Among Us apparently wasn't enough work for them. They apparently figured out that, yeah, why NOT take on a project based on Game of Thrones and Borderlands at the same time? Why not, indeed.
The latter project, titled Tales From The Borderlands, is unsurprisingly based on Gearbox Software's loot-o-rama Borderlands 2, and is an official collaboration between Telltale and Gearbox. We've known very little about the game so far, but after a panel hosted at SXSW in Texas, things are starting to clear up a little.
The panel consisted of several members from Telltale and Gearbox, and though it was essentially 50 minutes of ass-kissing and b ragging about each other, a few details did come out of it as well. The game will be divided up into multiple episodes just like most Telltale games, and will be part of the official canon. It's set after the events of Borderlands 2 and all its DLC, and tells the stories of Rhys and Fiona. Rhys is a Hyperion employee who loves to hack things to suit his purposes, while Fiona is a fast talking con-(wo)man. These two will meet during the first episode of the game, and their lives will forever change. Or something.
There are a few cool topics they touch upon during the panel, like how the grim comedy of Borderlands is to be combined with what has now become a hallmark for Telltale's gameplay. If you're interested, check out the full panel in the video embedded above.
