Deep Silver Wants Metro Sequel Broader

It shouldn't come as a surprise that the critically acclaimed and modestly financially successful Metro: Last Light is going to get a follow-up at some point or other.

Talking at GamesCom, Klemens Kundratitz from Deep Silver said they absolutely want to continue the Metro franchise, but there's a catch.

"It's been a positive experience. I'm very glad we acquired that brand. While it launched in a very dry space in the gaming calendar this year, it still got a lot of attention. Our ambition is to absolutely continue with that brand and we will also, in the next phase, look to making it more accessible for a broader gamer audience."

Notice that last sentence there. Deep Silver now apparently "look to making it more accessible for a broader gamer audience". Yeah...

Kundratitz stresses that he is currently NOT announcing a sequel to Metro Last Light, but only talking about the publisher's interest in the franchise's continued survival. The franchise's watered-down survival, apparently...

I hope they don't try and alter it too much to "make it more accessible" for a wider gaming world

More accessible doesn't sound promising most of the time.

I don't see that happening. But this kind of sentiment always makes me nervous

Well now... let's hope it doesn't turn into Risen 2...
