Darwin & Dickens

By BloodyFanGirl29-08-2015

Ubisoft has announced one of the obligatory pre-order bonuses for Assassin’s Creed Syndicate - an added mission involving two prominent Charles of the industrial revolution, Dickens and Darwin. The mission centres upon a ‘toxic plant’ that may endanger London’s inhabitants. Check out the trailer above.

Taking place in 1868, the time frame works out, with both figures likely to have been in London, or at least the United Kingdom, around this time; Dickens gave some of his final ‘farewell’ readings (which you just know is going to feature in at least one scene) during this time and Darwin published his The Variation of Animals and Plants under Domestication in January of the same year, later spending time in the Isle of Wight that Summer where one of his most famous and recognisable portrait photographs was taken. Yay, history! The only thing is though, we see an ape caricature at about the 0:23 mark in the video and that particular caricature was not published until 1871. Oh well, y’can’t win ‘em all.

You can pre-order the game now, ahead of the game’s full release on PC, Xbox One and PS4 Friday 23rd October this year.
