Darkwood is a roguelike horror game presently seeking crowd funding via Indiegogo. At the time of writing the crowd funding campaign had 9 days left and just over $10,000 to go until it reached its $40,000 goal. The game is being developed by Acid Wizard and they describe Darkwood as "A top-down, oldschool, sandbox survival horror set in a procedurally generated, open world. It features RPG and roguelike elements, with intense combat and a eerie atmosphere." And Darkwood certainly appears to be a game that packs atmosphere aplenty. With a desolate, minimalist sound track and excellently implemented sound design it certainly seems like this game will succeed in creating a sense of constant dread.

I honestly can't wait for this. I've played roguelikes in the past but none quite as creepy as this. I'm intrigued by the scare potential of procedurally generated horror. Be sure to watch the gameplay video above as well as the pre-alpha footage below and see the creepy for yourself.
