Cryptic Opens Seattle Studio

Cryptic Studios, the developer behind Champions Online, have set up a new studio in aid of this project. They've opened the new studio along with publisher Perfect World Entertainment and this new studio will be called Cryptic North. In addition to Champions Online, Cryptic North will also develop Dungeons & Dragons Neverwinter and Star Trek Online. Cryptic explained the decision leading to the opening in Seattle as wanting to take advantage of the "rich talent pool" there.
According to Develop the Seattle studio will be led by director Russell Williams who has previously been involved with Flying Lab Software and Microsoft Games Studios.
CEO of Perfect World Entertainment, Alan Chen, said "We are excited to welcome Russell Williams and the team at Cryptic North to the Perfect World family. Williams' experience as a leader and creator of award-winning titles will play a critical role at Cryptic North and help grow Champions Online."
Williams himself added "I look forward to working closely with Perfect World and the talented developers at Cryptic Studios on Champions Online, Star Trek Online, Neverwinter and future projects. We're already hard at work improving Champs."
