Counter-Strike: Z

It seems Valve has noticed the impact DayZ is having on Steam’s sale charts and decided to improvise a bit with CS: GO release. There’s not much to tell but here a quote from CS blog:

CS:GO doesn’t launch alone next week. When we go live next Tuesday, we will have some brain chomping walking dead joining us. The guys over at plaguefest.com have been working with us to get Zombie Mod working on CS:GO and it’s ready!

It was important to us as we developed CS:GO to make sure it was as moddable and extensible as any CS game. So this is just one of many mods that will be available to CS:GO in the coming months.

So here you go, we get more zombies. How cool is that?

Where there's the ability to mod, there will always be zombie mods (and nude skins).

Yeah, I don't particularly believe in an "over-saturation" of any given genre in any video game just as I do with music, art, books, films, etc. either. It's just another genre. There are those games that are made with the bad intent of being pure cash ins on a particular genre when it suddenly becomes popular and, yes, I also dislike that but for every one of those there's something else better or at least something that has a different take on it in some way. It's really not something to complain about in my opinion.

To be fair zombie games have been popular for a long time and CS1.6 and CSS both already had a zombie mod as soon as mods started coming out for those games.

Zombie games are just a setting and for everyone a different setting. You could say "Oh the modern warfare setting is getting oversaturated" but obviously for the remaining of gaming time (so for as long as humans exist) there will always be a modern warfare setting for games (mostly for shooter) and as we evolve so will that setting - the same will be for zombie games. The setting dates way back to the beginning of the first zombie books/movies and then first zombie games (which is important to note were 2D pixels, that's how old the zombie video game setting is!). The zombie setting is here to stay and will always stay.

More interesting for Bismarck perhaps, one could say - what's the deal with everyone's obsession with WW2 games... Just another setting and one that adds variety to the entertainment industry (be it books, movies or video games) and one which is here to stay!

Before the Zombie Apocalypse, obviously.

What do you mean eventually?

I agree Bis, eventually the zombie market is going to be oversaturated.

Sounds like a glitch. But I wouldn't put it past Valve to be giving free copies to people in the Beta
