Colonial Advertising

SEGA have had their wrists slapped regarding the marketing videos for Colonial Marines in the UK. Seeing as how I'm the only person in the entire universe who actually likes the freaking game, I was sceptical at first. But this one does hold up. According the Advertising Standards Authority, after just four complaints SEGA have now been told they must make some, minor but significant, changes to their advertising campaign. Specifically a disclaimer that none of the footage is reflective of the in game experience. Something which is a standard, legal requirement in the UK so as to avoid misrepresentation. Niall McVeigh, complaints executive for the ASA, had the following to say.
"SEGA Europe acknowledged your objection that the trailers did not accurately reflect the final content of the game. SEGA agreed to add a disclaimer, both on their website and in all relevant YouTube videos, which explains that the trailers depict footage of the demo versions of the game. The disclaimer will be visible when each online trailer is played."
