Casting Around in the Depths of Space
Something tells me that The Creative Assembly don’t quite understand what a dev diary actually is. My gripes about their earlier exploration of sound design, which was ultimately nothing more than a showcase of the music, is already clearly voiced. This is a different, though related, complaint. Treating us to a look behind the scenes of how they crafted their cast for Alien: Isolation...we instead have three minutes of some very general “we wanted to make it look good” type PR stuff, which ultimately tells us nothing about the cast aside from what, really, is a “no-fucking-duh” moment. They want them to be believable, whodda thunk it?!
Of course, putting that aside, there’s only so much you can show in a three minute video. But that’s another issue in itself. Showing pre-alpha footage with around only half a year remaining before release is...actually, that could be a stroke of genius. Fanboy pissing and moaning aside (yeah, I like Colonial Marines but even I agree that it kinda’ sucks) Isolation does look really bloody nice. In pre-alpha! Imagine how much better it will (should) look when the final build comes our way. Until then, seriously, give us a proper dev diary, go in depth and show us something concrete instead of teasing us like this you fiends!

I'm right there with you. I want to believe them, I really want to. They're saying all the right things.
But...

Sounds like a pretty sweet deal. But then again, it's Creative Assembly talking. Can't take them on their word these days.
