Card Playing Wolves from Space
Space Wolf has been announced as an upcoming title from HeroCraft, a company better known for its mobile games. The game is based in the popular Warhammer: 40,000 universe and will feature, as the name of the game suggests, the Space Wolves.
Space Wolf will be a tactical card game that allows you to collect and upgrade cards that you will then use during missions, much like Metal Gear Acid. This could allow for a rich tactical experience and upgrading cards could stand in for upgrading your marines, but why not just let us upgrade our marines and give us a new Chaos Gate?
The favourite Fenrisian fang-bearers will be cutting swathes of chaos to bits with their intense card-swords. Are the Space Wolves really the best choice for a game like this? Surely they're better suited to action like the ill-fated Space Marine game from THQ. Maybe it wouldn't have been ill-fated if it had used the Space Wolves instead of the always amorphous Ultramarines.
Hopefully Space Wolf won't be all about microtransactions and will actually allow for freedom to play without the shadow of "We really just want you to buy a card" looming over it.
