BF3: Disable Colour Grading With Next Update
Applying simple, colour-tweaking, mods to Battlefield 3 WAS seen as a bannable offence as it was feared that it would create an unfair advantage. Well, EA Dice staffer Mikael Kalms has announced that “there will be a console command for disabling the color grading entirely in the game included with the next PC game client update. We believe that turning it off gives no major competitive advantage/disadvantage.”
This is great news for those BF3 players out there who are just not satisfied with the look of Battlefield 3. However it comes at a price, as Kalms reveals, “IRNV scope and a few others which turn the image into greyscale or greenscale don’t work properly without color grading and will look real ugly,” and also that “there will be no in-game UI for turning it on/off", meaning only console commands will disable the colour grading.
Below we have some screens of the game running with colour grading disabled thanks to this mod:

Without the colour grading it definitely has a lot more contrast, which will actually help specific people in the game. I can't tell players from background as there is not enough contrast for my eyes - which react very strongly to contrast differences. So colourful games always are better for me than greytone/greentonish/dark games, as my eyes really struggle on those. That being said, it's too bad they went the colour grading route, and at least so firmly, as without it the game just looks off in some places as it was designed to be used with the grading sadly :( ... and the bugs of course too are an issue with it off.

Oh, it's excellent. Think it may be mentioned in the correct link that I posted that it shouldn't make an impact at all and it never has as far as I've noticed.

@Endzville, that look real nice, hows the performance?

Wrong link. That one seems bannable going by the comments. This is the one I meant: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q5pvPZZzx_c&feature=related Not a perfectly good example, footage-wise but, rest assurred, it looks quite amazing.

Don't think the modded version looks that good either to be honest.
This is the colour correction mod that I use: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z01j0RxdUkQ&feature=related
It isn't bannable and I think it looks a lot better than this even without removing the colour filter. This just seems like overkill in a sense. Not ordinarily a fan of colour filter's but I think removing it outright from the game really leaves a noticeably bad impact in some way, although maybe we're just used to it from the beginning.

Choice is good, attitude of some other DICE employees was simply a spit in the face.

To be perfectly honest, I think the modded versions look bad. They just look umm plain, bland.. I dunno, just something off with them that I really don't like

Honestly can't tell which I prefer.
