Bethesda Trademarks Fallout For Possible TV Series

Bethesda have recently trademarked the Fallout franchise in order to use it for "entertainment services in the nature of an on-going television program set in a post-nuclear apocalyptic world." Sounds intriguing.
The trademark entry can be viewed here at the United States Patent and Trademark Office website. It seems that publishers are always keen to explore different media options in regards to their big selling brands.
I remember when THQ was keen on making various TV shows and films relating to their franchises, such as the talks of a Saints Row movie and Red Faction series. Going further back still, there have always been rumours every couple of weeks of X franchise being turned into a film, such as Gears of War or Mass Effect. Not that anything ever came of these rumours. I find that companies are too eager to talk about the possibility, when in reality these ideas barely come to fruition.
Still, talking about the possibility of a Fallout TV series, I could see it working. Obviously I'd prefer a publisher's resources to go towards, you know, actually making games, but if pulled off something like this could hit the right buttons. Then again this news could simply be a company protecting its interests in all areas, with no intent to use them. Time will tell.

There are quite a few fan made movies that with a little bit more funding could be made into a quality series/movie. Also look at the hallo short by Peter Jackson. It was awesome. Unfortunately that cant be said about Red Faction movie...
