Tales of Games has released more information about the sequel to Barkley Shut Up and Jam: Gaiden via their Kickstarter page. The sequel, "The Magical Realms of Tír na nÓg: Escape from Necron 7 - Revenge of Cuchulainn: The Official Game of the Movie - Chapter 2 of the Hoopz Barkley SaGa", or "Barkley 2" for short, looks to shed the mish mash intellectual property infringing collage style of the original game for a new art style and fresh gameplay mechanics.

Between the new, lovingly animated art style, and the switch to combination top-down RPG/Shooter mechanics it’s giving off impressions of the MegaDrive games The Chaos Engine and cult classic Shadowrun. Additionally, it seems to be taking a Borderlands style approach to gunplay, with randomized loot drops, stat and classed based gameplay and even a gun fusing system inspired by the demon fusing antics of the Shin Megami Tensei series. It also takes place in an open world that changes over the course of the story. Pretty ambitious stuff, and it seems like fans have responded, as only a day into the Kickstarter campaign and Tales of Games has already raised enough money to fund the project.
