Assassin Creeds New Hero, New Time and Sooner Far Cry
Ubisoft has announced that the next Assassin’s Creed title will be coming in fiscal 2014 between April and March. They’ve already stated that it will feature a brand new hero and a new time period and Yves Guillemot stated the following.
“We will introduce an all-new Assassin's Creed hero, within an all-new team and time period, and we expect it to be another major leap forward for the franchise.”
What is especially interesting is that instead of the different gameplay mechanics being developed by different teams as it was in previous titles. For this next title, different teams will be developing different chronological chapters within the game. As explained by Yves Guillemot
“It is the benefit of multiple teams, working on multiple chapters of the brand, each getting several years to make their versions of an Assassin's Creed game.”
In addition there is talk about an “all-new team” in-game, thus hinting at the present times sequence teams, so no more Desmond (yet).
Good news for Far Cry fans, after the better than expected Far Cry 3 sales performance, Ubisoft has decided to green light the next Far Cry game sooner. While no date has been set yet, Ubisoft has stated that the next Far Cry will not be a four-year wait. Thus, gamers can expect to see the next Far Cry title released within two to three years!
Ubisoft did not say how the PC sales were, but if they were as good as the other platforms then it is safe to presume the next Far Cry will still make its way to PC as well.
