An interesting new behind the scenes video for Obsidian's upcoming South Park RPG has just surfaced, and some interesting ideas are traded within it. It was a big deal for South park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone, getting the whole look and feel of South Park into a game. This was apparently "harder than you'd think", because the crappiness of the show has to feel... authentic?

Anyway, the two loons seem to be heavily involved with the production of the game, writing the story, voicing the characters and overlooking the overall development while letting Obsidian create the deep RPG experience and long lists of bugs they're famous for. They've gone for the smart move of creating a brand new character for the player, which can be customized with a range of options. This way, while returning characters from the show need to follow their own already established canon, more freedom is offered by at least letting the player be his or her brand new character.

Another sign that Stone and Parker are intimately involved with the development, is the focus on the promoted farting mechanic (this game's big thing, apparently) being more than just the push of a button to execute. "No you need to, like, feel it go out of your asshole", Parker vividly explains as he rubs his thumb over an imagined analogue stick.

The game is set for release on March 4 in North America and March 7 in Europe. If that's too long for you to wait, then you might be tempted to freeze yourself down in a fridge until then, but please abstain from doing that.
