What with the recent closed beta release of Company of Heroes 2 taking the gaming community by storm, it's quite understandable that most have hung up the well-worn gloves of the original Company of Heroes. Although the future of multiplayer in Company of Heroes is still safe, it won't be long before most migrate over to its younger and better-looking sequel. However, the old girl still has some life in her yet, injected in by the skilled hands of modders, in this amazing mod which overhauls the entire setting of the game, transplanting it from the Second World War to modern combat.

Interestingly following the steps of other famous WWII-era game franchise, Call of Duty, this mod transplants the setting from the Second World War to that of a fictional "high-tech war between the modern-day Chinese and U.S. militaries." It's not just a cosmetic change either, as it incorporates "all-new doctrines, units, artwork, and maps", working "in tandem with acclaimed CoH gameplay in order to craft the most comprehensive, immersive and enjoyable strategic representation of 21st-century combat possible on the PC."

It received MOD DB's Mod of the Year award for 2011, and is still being updated up till today, with a 1.04 patch recently having been released, adding huge new features such as a new faction and fixing bugs. Once again, the PC gaming community has me speechless with awe.
