All Things Blizzard
We’ve already told you a few things about Starcrafts 2 expansion - Heart of the Swarm, and its new clan system. Obviously geared towards the multiplayer aspect of the game, the expansion will make it possible to set up your own clan as well as providing a more race focused progression system.
Those among you that strife through the leagues to become the very best might be happy to hear that Blizzard aims to launch the SC2 add-on somewhere in the first half of 2013, at least Blizzard head Mike Morhaime said as much during Activision’s earnings call.
During the same event, CEO Bobby Kotick announced that Blizzard’s Diablo III has been shipped 10 million copies so far which makes it, up-till-now, this year’s top-selling game. With the glorious history and 3.5 million copies sold during the first 24 hours, it’s not all that surprising. Building on this obvious success, Blizzard Entertainment has announced that an expansion is planned for Diablo III although no specific details were given. How about some PvP?
On a similar front, WoW’s expansion, Mists of Pandaria, has pushed the total number of subscribers once again over the 10 million mark. With nearly 3 million copies sold on the first day, the game is somewhat getting a revival from its previous downwards spiral. Although I don’t think this will last for a long time, Pandas or no Pandas, it does go to show that WoW still remains influential on the MMO market even though some have argued against this. Whether it will remain so and for how long, is a different question.
